About the event
Come and celebrate el día de La Virgen de Guadalupe and the inaugural experience at our brand new pop up gallery, Iluminación by Colectiva! Experience the beautiful Altar specially prepared by Norberto Mojardin in collaboration with Viva Colorado, a 501(C)(3) nonprofit. Each year, Norberto creates a new and unique rendition of an altar to La Virgen. You do not want to miss this year's altar!
This Altar serves to pay homage to La Virgen de Guadalupe. La Virgen "La Virgencita" will remain up through the 22nd of December. La Virgencita is a prominent cultural icon and represents hope, motherly love and promise to all her devotees, especially in Mexican culture. Our Lady of Guadalupe, Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe, also known as the Virgin of Guadalupe (La Virgen de Guadalupe), is a Catholic name of the mother of Jesus associated with a series of five Marian apparitions in December 1531, and a venerated image on a cloak enshrined within the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City. The basilica is the most-visited Catholic shrine in the world, and the world's third most-visited sacred site.
Other pieces presented in this exhibit by local creatives: A'koko Santos, Armando Geneyro, Arturo Garcia and Xencs L. Wing.
Community members are welcome to pay homage to La Virgen, bring flower offerings, say a prayer and bask in her beauty. This is a family friendly event.
All are welcome to attend this "come as you are" event as we understand La Virgencita is important to so many and not only to those who identify with her religious iconography. The altar is a true work of art that can be appreciated by everyone regardless of their age, religious affiliation or background!
