Alexis Newton is an activist, people connector, arts educator, and social change leader!! Alexis is passionate about creative economies, impact investing, and the entrepreneurial space.
Alexis has worked as the Senior Manager of Programs and Development at the Village Exchange Center where she is part of the team that manages the Left Behind Workers Fund (https://www.impactcharitable.org/workers-fund) which has distributed over $10 million dollars since its inception to the undocumented community in Colorado. Prior to this, Alexis was the Director of Education at Museo de las Americas where she focused on creating arts integrated programming and culturally relevant curriculum infused with social justice activism. Alexis has also previously worked with the UN (United Nations Population Fund) in New York City and in Mexico City where she focused on human trafficking prevention and advocacy for victims of human trafficking.
Alexis is the co-founder of Latinas Lideres y Emprendedoras, Denver’s only 100% Spanish Language event that takes place in March, during the Colorado Women’s Foundation Week of Women. Alexis is a founding member of Colectiva, a collective of creatives that curate culturally inspired experiences that elevate and promote Latino Creatives via culture, art and cuisine. Lastly, Alexis is a founding member and curator of Calaveras en mi Ciudad, a mobile calaveras exhibit celebrating the traditions of dia de los muertos. Alexis serves on the Board of Directors for “Beyond Our Borders” through the Colorado Women’s Foundation.
Alexis is a proponent of the arts community and has a passionate heart for Latino art and culture. She loves to support start-ups that have a social impact and connect like-minded people to one another. Alexis is most happy when she is outside running or in a bodypump class!
