Our Story
Finding Inspiration at Every Turn
Colectiva is a 501(C)(3) Nonprofit organization based in Denver, CO that formed in 2020. Our mission is to reclaim our Latinx culture from appropriation and to ensure Latino, Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) identifying creatives are compensated fairly. Colectiva began as a passion project amongst a group of friends who had grown tired of seeing our beautiful culture appropriated, then sold back to us as a watered down and cheapened version of its original glory and who had grown weary of our creatives being asked to do more for less. We recognized our influence and power were stronger together and we formed our collective. We know having a seat at the table is not always enough, sometimes we have to flip the table in order to have our voices heard, be acknowledged and affect the change we desire and deserve.
We are so proud of the work we have done together and the impact we have been able to make. We are so thankful to you, our communities, for embracing us and our work!
Colectiva is led by Rachel Garcia, CEO. Our other core members are: Jose Rosales and Alfonso Meraza of Artistico, Edwin Sandoval of Xatrucho Concepts and Jesus Gutierrez of 3 Margaritas Broomfield and Chamba Inc.
